a collection of noise makers who have come together as a result of their mutual love for classic soul rhythm sections from the 60’s and 70’s. The group has spent years crafting their sound and have worked as the backing band for a number of Melbourne’s greatest soul artists. Dive Team 5 bring hard hitting attitude to Melbourne’s beautiful soul community, whilst tipping their hat to artists such as Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff and Booker T & The M.G.'s.
The band’s debut album ‘First Splash’ (TO BE RELEASED ON JUNE 20, 2020) demonstrates their musical philosophy, hiding no mistakes with editing, by recording the entire album start to finish in one take. The session was engineered at PLUG SEVEN STUDIO LAST YEAR by our friend Carl Lindeberg, which was bounced from tape and digitally mixed by Jamie. The album was then mastered by Lachlan Carrick of Moose Mastering.
This record was made on the Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
